Decree No. 401/2007 Coll. of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak
Republic imposes
obligations to the operator not only in the construction but also in the
operation
of chimney bodies according to § 20 as follows
- The chimney must be maintained in good technical condition and must be
secured
its regular inspection and cleaning
- The chimney must be cleaned and inspected at least at the following
times during operation
periods:
- if appliances with a total heat output of up to 50 kW are
connected to the chimney body, once per:
- four months if appliances are connected to the chimney
for
solid fuel or liquid fuel appliances
- six months if appliances are connected to the chimney
for
gaseous fuels and if the chimney is unlined
- twelve months if appliances are connected to the chimney
gaseous fuel appliances and if the chimney is lined
- if appliances with a total heat output of more than 50 kW are
connected to the chimney body, once per:
- two months if appliances are connected to the chimney
for
solid fuel or liquid fuel appliances
- six months if appliances are connected to the chimney
for
gaseous fuels
- The chimney to which a Type C gas-fired appliance is connected shall be
be inspected and cleaned at least once a year during operation
- A chimney to which a solid fuel appliance, a liquid fuel appliance or a
gas fuel appliance is connected and which has not been in operation
since the other cleaning and inspection for longer than the period
established in paragraph 2 letter a) and b), it does not have to be
checked and cleaned until it is put back into operation; before putting
the appliance into operation, it must be checked and cleaned.
- The chimney in occasionally used buildings must be cleaned and inspected
at least once every two years
- Soot and condensate accumulated in the collection part of the chimney
vent must be removed every time the chimney is cleaned
- The appliance must be cleaned within the time limits specified by its
manufacturer in in the documentation accompanying the appliance. If this
period is not specified in the documentation or such documentation is
missing, it must be cleaned within the time limits specified in
paragraph 2
